The family-run company is headquartered in Frattamaggiore, 20 min outside of Naples. Its core business is neckties, accessories, and shirts, all of which are produced in-house.
The brand’s founder worked at Kiton for 20 years before setting out independently and creating Errico Formicola. The idea was to create a new line of tailored garments with a tailored and sartorial feel delivered through many handmade steps during production but in a modern form.
Errico Formicola offers two different shirt lines. One features eight handmade points, as you can see in the illustration above. The other is machine-made, with the armhole made by hand and the sleeve assembled at the end. The hand stitching allows for more flexibility of movement.
Fabrics are sourced from a variety of mills from Albini to Carlo Riva Canclini, as well as Japanede fabrics for the casual line due to the brand’s strong presence in Japanese market.
Its ties are entirely made by hand, from the cut to the final sewing. Errico Formicola uses a wool cotton lining that acts as the core of the tie, providing elasticity and durability and ensuring that it will maintain its shape for years to come. The silk and silk blends for its ties are all sourced in Como.
As for trims, the brand uses Australian Mother of Pearl buttons from Bottonificio Padano, and horn buttons for its sports jackets.
You can shop the brand online, at retailers like Arbiter Parma, and in its main markets Japan, Korea, Russia, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Canada. The Italian market was mostly concentrated in Puglia and Campania.
