I'm just waiting until the purists find out that there is plenty of raw denim that is woven with natural stretch - sans synthetics, that just isn't used by big brands
See idk if this is just a London problem bc I went to buy a Christmas gift at Carl Friedrik in Mayfair and all the floor items were super scratched up (fine whatever bc they're display), when I asked to see a new one the guy was like "they scratch super quickly anyway so there's not much difference" ?????? i think he just didn't want to bother getting stock out which is fine but hell of a sales pitch lmao and the new one he finally got me had the compartments all warped out of shape already which was disappointing
That's not the in-store experience anyone wants, and it leaves a lot to be desired. I'll bring it up at Pitti when I swing by their booth. The smooth Vacchetta leather is indeed prone to collecting scuff marks because it is untreated and does not come with a finished top layer. This is also why I prefer their pebble grain leathers, which have so far served me very well and not shown any signs of wear after dozens of flights and days on the road.
I genuinely went back twice bc the person I was buying for wanted that specific one, but I just couldn't buy it in the end bc it was such a poor experience for the price point lmao. Good tip on the pebble grain ones though I can imagine they wear better!
The selvedge purists going to come for you with that last rec
